As a child he enjoyed exploring the borders of the grey, though not without proper supervision and without guards to make sure nothing happened to the small child. As he grew older though he found that it was a lot more fun to just sit in one spot and wait for things to happen. He made fast friends though not with other humans and instead with animals that lived around the castle. Cats and dogs followed him around the courtyard, meowing and howling at him as if they expected him to understand. Eventually, he did. The sounds the animals made became words. Well they were sort of words and since he could understand them that's what he called them. Soon after he learned to talk back and his parents were unsure about how to feel about their sons ability. Sure it was interesting but it wasn't really all that useful, especially not when so many others had abilities based in combat. It didn't really bother him though and as his adventures grew bolder he grew less afraid of traveling a little further away from the castle with his escort of animals growing. One day though a pair of cats led him to a tiny rock hollow where an egg was sitting there on its side and seemingly abandoned. The cave was cold and even Eviran knew that was no way to get an egg to hatch. Wrapping it up all nice and warm he took it home and kept it safe. Keeping an eye on it and waiting for the day it eventually hatched out of the egg. His hard work paid off a couple weeks later when the first signs of life started to cause the egg to rock and shake. Cracks appeared and Eviran waited with bated breath to see what exactly would hatch out of the egg. Soon a small yellow head popped up and a large salamander followed. This was what he had been waiting for! Loche decided immediately that Eviran was her parent and took to sticking to him like glue. Their closeness caused another skill to develop though this was one he didn't exactly go bragging about to his parents, especially since he realized how useful it was. He could send Loche out to walk around the castle and if he wanted to walk with her without even leaving his room, meaning that if he wanted to spy on someone it made it a lot easier. He started spending his days either wandering around the courtyard and finding new animals that would approach him or seeing what new information he could gain from the animals he already understood. Abilities • Talking to Animals: This skill doesn't really do much in the way of causing him to do anything in battle, rather its a passive skill that's always active and sometimes annoying. He can speak and understand most all animals though he actually has to sit down with one of the species in order to do this meaning that he can't speak to every animal right off the bat. It takes some time for him to pick up the language. Depending on how willing the other animal is to work with him it can take him anywhere from 3-9 posts to get a basic grip on the language he is trying to learn. The current animals he can speak to and understand are: Rabbits, Sheep, Salamanders, Dogs, Cats and most species of birds. (since they all follow a common pattern with their speech.) • Shared Sight: This skill only works with Loche and can only be used for 3 turns. After that it has a recharge period of 5 turns. Eviran can use this skill to send Loche out scouting and see what she sees by merging their minds. This usually leaves Eviran defenseless though and is rather risky to use because of that. It does however allow him to pass a bit more unnoticed though the fact that he's trying to do so through a large yellow salamander doesn't really help. |
